Your firm's own deployment, with Abby on Claude Opus 5.5. Best for the strongest drafting and reasoning.
Run the whole firm in one place, with Abby built in.
Practice is the full Hand & Seal platform. It includes everything in Front Desk, plus Abby as part paralegal and part office admin, and practice management with matters, documents, billing, trust accounting and payments, all under your firm's own name.
One flat monthly fee, in a private cloud or on a computer in your office. See pricing.
Practice is in development and isn't available yet. Founding firms help shape it and see it first.
Abby, part paralegal and part office admin.
Lawyers have signed deeds "witness my hand and seal" for centuries. The hand is the help. The seal is the privacy.
Part paralegal
- First drafts from your own templates and past work
- Search across the firm's files: "the lease we did for that client in 2023"
- Summaries of depositions, records and long documents
- Everything Abby drafts is a draft. A lawyer reviews it before it goes anywhere.
Part office admin
- Calendar, consults and reminders
- Email drafts in your voice, ready for you to send
- Everything in Front Desk: calls, intake, conflict checks, follow-up and booking
- Time captured from the work, recorded as the time actually spent
Legal research stays in Westlaw or Lexis, where you already pay for it.
Two ways to run it.
The same Practice, in the cloud or in your office. Both are flat monthly fees, never per seat, per case or a share of your fees.
A small computer in your office runs Practice and open models, so client files stay in the building.
Add Visibility and the two come at one combined flat fee. Pricing for both ways to run Practice is on the pricing page.
How it fits your firm.
Abby needs somewhere to keep the matter, the time and the money. Practice is that place, and it's built around what Abby does all day.
Replaces Clio, MyCase or PracticePanther, or runs alongside
Keep your current system as the record and add Abby, intake and approvals on top. Or move over, bring your history with you, and retire the old subscription.
One flat fee
Practice management, trust accounting and your own branding are all included. We don't sell seats, so adding a paralegal doesn't change the bill.
A person approves what goes out
Nothing reaches a client or lead without a person's approval, apart from the routine messages your firm chooses to make automatic.
Intake and calls.
Every call, email and web form lands in one inbox. Abby answers in your firm's name, takes the details you ask for, runs a conflict check and books the consult. You see what it said and what it learned.
- Calls answered day and night, recorded with the caller told up front
- A transcript and a short summary beside every call
- Conflict checks before anyone gives advice, with possible matches held for an attorney
- Follow-up emails drafted for a person to approve before they go
- Recordings stay inside your deployment and are kept as long as your firm sets
Clients and matters.
One board follows each client from first call to closed matter: lead, consult, conflict check, engagement letter, active work. Abby works from the same record your team does.
- A pipeline of leads and matters with the next step on every card
- Matter pages with contacts, deadlines, documents, time and notes together
- Engagement letters drafted from your templates and sent for e-signature after an attorney approves
- Moving from Clio or MyCase: we plan to import matters, contacts, time and trust history
Billing and trust accounting.
Time is captured from the work as it happens, and an attorney approves every entry and invoice. Operating and trust money live in separate books, with a ledger for each client and a three-way reconciliation every month.
- Time entries drafted from sent email, calls and document edits, in tenth-of-an-hour increments
- Invoices drafted by Abby, approved by an attorney, sent from Practice
- Operating and trust (IOLTA) books kept apart, with no negative client balances allowed
- Three-way reconciliation of bank statement, trust ledger and client ledgers, signed off by a person
- Online payments through LawPay or Stripe, with card fees never taken from trust funds
- Abby can read the books and draft entries. She has no way to post them or move money.
Team and permissions.
The owner or an admin decides what each person can see and do. Start from a preset role, clone it into your own, then grant or deny one capability for one person, firm-wide or on a single matter.
- Preset roles for owner, admin, attorney, paralegal, office admin and contract staff
- Custom roles cloned from a preset
- Per-person grants and denials with an optional expiry, where a denial always wins
- Ethical screens that keep a person, and Abby, away from a matter
- Abby follows the same permissions as your staff, and every change is logged with a before and after
Your brand and a client portal.
Clients see your firm, not ours. Your logo, colors and letterhead go on invoices, emails and texts, and clients get a portal on your own web address.
- Invoices, email and text messages in your firm's name and colors
- A client portal where clients follow their matter, sign documents and pay invoices
- Secure messages between clients and their legal team
- Email sent from your own domain
Privacy and deployment.
You choose where Practice runs, and neither option trains a model on your files.

Option one
Private cloud
Your firm's own deployment, with Abby on Claude Opus 5.5 through Anthropic's commercial API. Our Zero Data Retention agreement with Anthropic is in progress, and no client data goes on the private cloud until it's signed.
The details of what is and isn't kept are on the home page.

Option two
In your office
A small computer in your office runs Practice and open models. Client files, recordings and the books stay in the building.
The trade-off: the open models are smaller, so a lawyer checks their drafts closely.
Records you control
- An audit log of every action by a person or by Abby
- Retention periods and legal holds set by your firm
Your data stays yours
- Export everything whenever you want it
- Before you sign, we set out in writing what is kept, where, and for how long
